According to Dr. Stefanovska this home remedy eliminates the excess fat and water from the body and improves the brain function, memory, hearing and vision.
The main ingredients of this recipe are fresh horseradish, organic lemon with its peel and honey. A lot has been said of honey and lemon, so before we give you the full recipe, this time we will say a few things about the horseradish.
Horseradish (lat. Armoracia rusticana) is a perennial plant with green leaves, white root and a sharp, hot flavor. It comes from southeastern Europe and western Asia. The root is usually used as food but the young leaves of the plant can also be used for this purpose as they are very tasty.
Due to its composition (vitamin C, potassium, vitamin B1, vitamin B6, iron, calcium, magnesium, phosphor…) horseradish is an excellent medicine as well.
Its useful properties as a remedy were known even in Ancient Greece, 1500 years BC. Back then it was used to help people with backaches. From that time comes the saying: “chard is worth its weight in lead, the turnip worth its weight in silver, but the horseradish is worth its weight in gold”.
It is an integral part of different meals, especially in fatty foods as it helps us digest them better. Horseradish cleanses the body, enhances metabolism and removes tiredness and is strongly recommended to people with diabetes. It also entices the reproduction and the development of good bacteria in the intestines.
Horseradish juice destroys dysentery, salmonella, tuberculosis bacteria and many fungi which live as parasites in humans and plants. It improves the functioning of the digestive organs by stimulating the secretion of digestive juices and enzymes. Horseradish impetuses the work of the liver, the heart and is an excellent diuretic that helps with rheumatism.
How to keep the root fresh?
The fresh root can be used over the whole year if it is timely put in wet sand or held in a basement.
If you want to keep the horseradish fresh, mix it with a spoon of sugar and four spoons of lemon juice or vinegar. In a well closed jar, horseradish can stay in the fridge for up to three weeks.
